Death By Handout

I just finished an excellent article about government handouts and the destruction those handouts cause. Retta Fontana make a compelling argument for abolishing government charities like Social Security because they cause people to do just enough to get by. In their giving of false security, the state erects a safety net under the downtrodden that's underwritten by the taxpayer. Where normally individuals would have to pull themselves up, the state has stepped in and short-circuited the survival mechanism inherent in each of us. In her article, Retta takes a look at three individuals who receive welfare and documents the destruction caused be getting something for nothing.
