Napolitano on Telecom Immunity

Friday, February 29, 2008

Judge Andrew P. Napolitano takes a look at the case being brought against telecom industry biggies for their aiding the government in illegal surveillance of Americans.
"Immunity doesn't enhance freedom; it rewards lawlessness. If the government and the telecoms had obeyed the law, there would be no need for immunity. Show me the legal justification for illegal spying on Americans, and I'll show you a government that just doesn't care about the Constitution."

My Thoughts on Telecom Immunity

Thursday, February 14, 2008

Article 1, Section 9 of the U.S. Constitution--you know, the one they swore to defend--says, "No ... ex post facto Law shall be passed."

How would it be constitutional for the Congress to pass a law that makes an illegal activity suddenly legal for a certain class of persons? And how can you do it without it becoming ex post facto the very instant you did it? And if they give a pass to this type of activity, what will they allow next time?

The last thing we want in this country is a precedent whereby the government runs roughshod over our rights by proxy through private companies. Right now, we're setting up a situation where when the you-know-what hits the fan, the executive branch gets their buddies in congress to pass a law granting immunity to private companies who did their dirty work for them. This, of course, strips the people of their expectation of accountability and equal justice under the law.

I only see chaos and tyranny down this road.

Who Won in Washington?

Sunday, February 10, 2008

I am proud to announce the winner of the Washington Caucuses is: Undecided!

Yes, that's right. King5 TV is reporting that John McCain has won 26% of the available delegates, Mike Huckabee has won 24%, and Ron Paul has won 21%. That's 26 + 24 + 21 = 71%. That means Undecided garnered 29% of the delegates in this state. Good for you, Undecided!

No, but seriously, I hear that the Republican Party has announced they will be recounting the votes later today to make sure they got it right. So, this one's not over yet.

Oh, and congrats to Ron Paul for his very strong showing in our state.

Garnish the Wages

Tuesday, February 05, 2008

Quoting from this Associated Press article, dated Sunday, Feb. 3:

Democrat Hillary Rodham Clinton said Sunday she might be willing to garnish the wages of workers who refuse to buy health insurance to achieve coverage for all Americans.

The New York senator has criticized presidential rival Barack Obama for pushing a health plan that would not require universal coverage. Clinton has not always specified the enforcement measures she would embrace, but when pressed on ABC's "This Week," she said: "I think there are a number of mechanisms" that are possible, including "going after people's wages, automatic enrollment."

This, dear reader, is pure socialism. She is saying that she wants to take from those who have and give it to those who don't and she intends to use the government to force you to fork over your money.

This is NOT why we have government.

UPDATE: I like this post reply found here about this subject:
I dont think this specific topic is the issue with her. It is more her thought process and belief that it is the governments right/responsibility to take what it wants for what it sees as the individuals own good.
About sums it up, no?
