250 Billion Dollar Man

Tuesday, March 14, 2006

In case you think you can compete with the Federal Reserve by producing your own money, here is a reminder to you that they still hold the money monopoly in this country.
The counterfeit money looked good, but there was one flaw. There's no such thing as a one billion dollar bill.

U.S. Customs agents in California said on Tuesday they had found 250 bogus billion dollar bills while investigating a man charged with currency smuggling.
In case you didn't catch that, he was in possession of 250 One Billion dollar bills. I mean come on. I know the U.S. dollar is worth less than it used too, but do foreigners really think it's worth that much less? Talk about inflation!

The article continues:
"You would think the $1 billion denomination would be a giveaway that these notes are fake, but some people are still taken in," said James Todak, a secret services agent involved in the probe.
It almost sounds like this guy passed these bills off to someone. What could he have possibly purchased with a billion dollar bill? Can you imagine the clerk at the local gas station trying to explain that they just don't take bills larger than $20? Heck, you'd have to get a bank loan just to make change.
